Media & Platforms

The audio layer for content you already own.

COMMONTARY adds an unlimited number of synchronized alternate audio streams to your existing video — without changing how that video is produced, encoded, or delivered.

More time on your content
A viewer who picks a voice has chosen to stay. Alternate feeds give people a reason to watch the whole thing rather than the highlights, or to watch the same content multiple times with different voices added.
Audiences you do not currently reach
The same game, called by someone a different demographic already follows, is effectively a different program at no additional production cost.
Inventory that does not exist yet
Every alternate stream can carry its own ad breaks and its own sponsorship, sold separately from the main broadcast.
Localization without a re-cut
Additional languages are additional audio streams. No second encode, no separate distribution path.
Accessibility on the same rails
Descriptive audio is the same technical problem as alternate commentary, and the same mechanism solves it.
Nothing changes upstream
Sync works by listening to the broadcast audio, so your encoding and delivery pipeline stays exactly as it is.

How integration actually works

The COMMONTARY algorithm identifies where a viewer is in a broadcast using audio fingerprinting, then delivers the alternate stream aligned to that moment.

Because sync comes from the audio rather than from a timecode you have to expose, there is no requirement to open up your stream, share keys, or alter your delivery chain. It can be embedded in your own app, run alongside it, or white-labeled entirely.

The technical walkthrough

Why integrate

  • More engagement. Picking a feed is an active choice, and a viewer who has made one behaves differently — they switch between voices, follow those creators, and talk about it while they watch.
  • More subscriptions. Exclusive talent and exclusive feeds are reasons to sign up that don’t require commissioning anything new. The video already exists; the difference is who is talking about it.
  • More advertising. Each stream carries its own breaks and its own sponsors, sold against an audience that self-selected into it. A feed people chose is worth more per impression than the same slot on the main broadcast.
  • More creators. Every creator who calls your content promotes it to their own following to get them to tune in. Their audience becomes a distribution channel you don't pay to acquire.
  • Better retention. People come back for a voice they like, not only for the event. That turns occasional viewing into a habit and gives subscribers a reason to stay between tentpoles.

The rights question

Alternate audio does not retransmit your broadcast. Nothing from your audio is rebroadcast, so a commentary stream is original speech — nearer to a live thread of posts about your content than to a competing carriage of it.

More importantly: COMMONTARY is built to work with rights holders. If alternate audio is going to exist around your content either way, COMMONTARY delivers it in a platform where you control the talent, carry the inventory, and keep the audience.
